My love for baking started when I was small and my mum would present me with the beater from the Kenwood to lick. Even now, I have a preference for raw cake mix over baked cake! My sister and I were big Blue Peter fans growing up and in TV presenter-style, we would 'talk to camera' (the kitchen wall) whilst baking something delicious (making a mess).
I'm now a mum myself and for years have made the obligatory birthday cakes, initially just for my children, then for other family members, then for friends until more and more people kept saying I should do it professionally. I have had the honour of creating wedding cakes, the pleasure of designing kid's celebration cakes and the enjoyment of doing something I love.
I have my own Kenwood mixer now (I felt like a proper grown-up when I got that), a website I've designed myself and social media sites - so that I don't feel too grown up!
I love the precision of recipes but also the creativity required in the design and finishing touches. I have some firm favourites but also love to experiment - there is always something new to learn or try.
