#PTSOW16

...And relax...!

What a busy week I've had in the bake... kitchen followed by an even busier weekend!

It was the Spring Open Weekend for Peak Tipis and they had invited me to join their '#PTSOW16 Dream Team' in their beautiful Kata tipis at The Heath House in Tean on the Staffordshire border.

In the week leading up to the event, I made mini marzipan peaches with gold painted leaves & stalks, raspberry meringue clouds, pink and blue macarons with gold highlights, chocolate and cherry cupcakes (with cheeky amaretto icing), mini lemon sponges with cream cheese frosting & blueberries, a tall salted caramel 'drip cake' adorned with fresh figs and caramelised pecans, and a three-tiered wedding semi-naked wedding cake. Phew!

The highly efficient Peak Tipis team erected the two giant kata tents and one kung on Thursday so that on Friday we could dress the inside with flowers, fruit, cakes, ribbon, stationery etc ready for the styled photo shoot. It was a long old day but the models looked stunning and the backdrop of The Heath House and the tipis worked perfectly with the styling. I can't wait to see all the professional photographs, thank you Ben Appleby & James Lynch, you worked so hard!

Saturday dawned bright and sunny and by 10am we were ready for couples and their families to be wowed by a truly unique venue. We were blessed with glorious weather for the whole weekend and I was very impressed by how well my cakes and treats withstood the heat. They were covered and put in the cool Heath House overnight but were out on display for three days in the tipis without melting, sagging, drooping or generally falling apart! Even the fruit lasted, I just needed to refresh the cut fruit each day. This has filled me with confidence for summer weddings in tipis & marquees :-)

I worked with some amazing talent over the course of this Spring Open Weekend. A massive thank you to the heavily pregnant Kimberley Chell who got me on board with Peak Tipis, to the fabulous Nadia DiTullio who worked her floral magic once again, and to the very clever Hannah Stoney who created such beautiful labels for my cakes.

It was a fantastic experience to work on my first styled photo shoot and to meet so many talented local wedding suppliers:

Peak Tipis, HBA Photography, Nadia DiTullio Flowers, The Heath House, Jason Lynch Weddings, Yellowstone Paper Works, Tickety Boo Bunting, Florrie and Eve, Lorie G Bridal Studio, Rebecca Diamond Music, Jess Rigley Wedding Photography, Jack Rabbits, Laura Garwood Wedding Videography,

Georgia & Jack, models.
