Wedding season is well under way! I've had back-to-back- weddings through August so far and have a fairly busy Autumn booked in. August has been the month of the semi-naked wedding cake...
First up was Lauren & Greg who married at Callow Hall near Ashbourne. They were my first consulation of 2016 and this is my tallest wedding cake to date with four layers of sponge in four tiers. They decided on an ombre effect with the icing as they wanted chocolate, coffee, lemon & vanilla sponges. The very talented Greg made their cake topper and Lauren chose the most beautiful roses. The cake was displayed on a large barrel which set it off beautifully.
Next was Renita & Gareth who married at the Izaak Walton near Dovedale with their reception under the canvas of Peak Tipis. The tipis have such an amazing atmosphere and Renita's style vision was spot on. The cake was another semi-naked ombre affair with coffee, spiced apple & salted caramel and vanilla tiers with a separate chocolate cake. Sunflowers & sprigs of heather complimented the cakes beautifully, as did the rustic cake table with gilt frame provided by Save The Date Event Stylist.
Most recently, Matt & Mel got married at Somersal Cottages in Somersal Herbert. They staged a fabulous 'Wedfest' with a great festival vibe. Nadia DiTullio worked her magic with the flowers - centre pieces being arranged in wellies! Place settings were vinyl records and the 'guest book' was a guitar that guests could sign. The cake was a classic three tiered Victoria sponge piled with summer berries - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries & cherries. It was accompanied by a pork pie stack which I dressed with new season plums & damsons and a very cool & unique festival sign topper. Also, a cheese stack to which I added red and green grapes, fresh figs and another cute topper.
