Macarons are something that have been on my baking bucket list for some time. I think the stories you hear about how even French pastry chefs have difficult days with macarons have put me off trying them out. Not so my daughter! I came home the other evening to find bowls piled high from one end of the kitchen to the other and her announcing she was making macarons! She divided her mixture and made half pink and half turquoise then filled them with vanilla buttercream once they had cooled. And I have to say, she made a pretty good job! There was some variation in size, but they all had a good shine and no cracks. She still needs a lesson in what the kitchen sink is for though... So, spu

Browned butter frosting :-))

Well, last week was extremely busy in the bake... kitchen! I had a wedding cake, lots of celebration cakes and a couple of boxes of cupcakes! I've just boxed up a dozen red velvet cupcakes and thought I'd squeeze in time to write a quick blog post. One of my orders was for a spiced apple cake for a gentleman turning 50 and loving all things apple. My spiced apple cake recipe is one of my favourites and in the past I've teamed it with either vanilla buttercream, salted caramel buttercream (another of my faves) or cream cheese frosting. Happy New Year!

Well what a start to bake...ashbourne!! I have absolutely LOVED pushing forward with my new venture - trying new recipes, creating different designs, meeting interesting people and developing my baking business. Building this website was a challenge in itself but I'm so proud of what I achieved in the last quarter of 2015. I'm now looking forward to a successful 2016. I'm late posting this blog really but 2016 has been busy already and we're only a week in! I was back to work baking on New Year's Day for my first order due on the 2nd and whilst I thought January might be a quiet month what with diets & health regimes kicking in, I've already got more orders booked in than I had in Decemb
